We are situated in Launceston, but service the entire state. For your convenience, we manage your transaction so that it is rarely necessary to meet with you, as contact through email, telephone, post and facsimile is usually all that is required. However, we understand that buying and selling property can be a daunting process, especially if you are a first time home buyer or seller. Therefore, we are more than happy to meet with you as often as you would like to answer any queries you may have and to fully guide you through the transaction.

eL Conveyancing is owned by Erin Sims. Prior to commencing the business Erin had been employed in the legal profession for over 6 years.
Until recently Erin was an associate of one of the leading Launceston law firms, where she had practiced as a solicitor for more than 3 years after graduating from the University of Tasmania in 2003 with an Arts/Law (Honours) degree.
In 2009 Erin decided to specialise in conveyancing only, and to set up her own conveyancing practice. Erin has extensive experience in acting for both purchasers and vendors of real estate in Tasmania.
Lisa Robinson joined the firm in early 2014 after 29 years of working for two of Launceston’s law firms, primarily in the conveyancing departments. She has been fortunate to have received invaluable training from a number of well known practitioners in the field.
Lisa works part-time and her role in the firm is primarily to assist with Contracts for Sale and Auction Conditions; to check and report on searches obtained from local Council, Lands Titles Office and other relevant organisations relating to purchase transactions,and to complete stamping & registration of settlement documentation.
Pip joined eL Conveyancing in early 2014 after taking a short break from conveyancing to concentrate on her family. Pip previously worked as a law clerk/legal assistant at two Launceston legal firms and has been in the industry for over 10 years. Pip is responsible for the day to day management of our Sale files.
Gaylene has significant experience in the conveyancing industry, having previously had her own business for 16 years undertaking property settlements for Westpac Banking Corporation. She joined eL Conveyancing in 2011 after working for another licenced conveyancer for 2 years prior to that. Gaylene works part time and assists Pip with the day to day management of Sale transactions.
Karen joined eL Conveyancing in December 2015 as our full time Settlements Clerk. Karen has a total of 30yrs work experience working within Local Government Offices and the Commonwealth Bank. For 7 years of her banking career she held the position of Settlements/Conveyancing Officer of property settlements including sales, purchases and refinances in Northern Tasmania. Prior to joining eL Conveyancing she worked with a local solicitors firm gaining experience in both residential and commercial conveyancing.
Maureen commenced with eL Conveyancing in 2009 soon after it commenced operation. She has more than 15 years experience in the conveyancing industry, having worked at a Launceston law firm in an administrative capacity for a significant period prior to starting with eL Conveyancing. Maureen’s role also encompasses that of Office Manager.
Emma has worked on and off at two of the larger law firms in Launceston for the past 18 years. During that time she has gained experience in the conveyancing field and enjoys all aspects a conveyancing administration role has to offer. During her time out of the conveyancing industry Emma has raised her family and spent 3 years managing a successful cleaning business. Emma joined eL Conveyancing in March 2016 and is very happy to be part of the team. You will find her at our reception desk and primarily assists with Purchase transactions.
Maria joined EL Conveyancing in 2015 having worked in the real estate industry for the previous 3 years after having her family. Along with her knowledge of real estate she brings over 10 years’ experience from a banking and legal background, having worked with a major bank and a Launceston law firm primarily involved in property settlements and mortgages. Maria works part-time and assists Pip and Gaylene in the daily running of our Sale files.

As part of the service we offer, we undertake various searches of the local Council, the Land Titles Office and other relevant organisations for information about the property you are selling or purchasing.
There are various fees attached to these searches.
Often there are also registration fees payable to the Land Titles Office.
You will need to budget for approximately $250.00 in fees and disbursements in addition to our professional costs.
This includes a fee of $162.18 to register the discharge of any mortgage registered against your property.
If you don’t have a mortgage, your fees and disbursements will be approximately $90.00.
You will need to budget for approximately $600.00 in fees and disbursements in addition to our professional costs. This includes a fee of $200.43 to register the transfer of the property into your name/s.
In addition, you have to pay a government tax known as Stamp Duty on any purchase of property in Tasmania. The Stamp Duty payable varies according to the purchase price and increases as the purchase price increases. Click here to calculate the stamp duty payable.
